A bit pricey but heck isn't all of Dublin?! A pleasantly great meal and great prices on our fabulous cocktails!
Arrived here with my friend. The sun was shining on the seating outside it wasn 't busy. The host told us to sit anywhere. We chose a table that had 2 benches at it as it was in the sun had a nice, but tired floral upholster which looked more comfortable than the wooden benches. The menu, seemed a bit pricey for it 's average offerings but we were seated stuck with it. Our server announced that there is a staff charge of 1 euro per person was that ok? I never heard of this before, are we being forced to give some kind of tip before our meal? I am not a tourist. Is this to bamboozle tourists? I guess this set the tone. Anyway pizza, bruschetta wine arrive. They were fine. Only one piece of bread for the bruschetta for over 12 euro. Fairly meagre. Halfway through, a waitress comes over says (more than asks) can you move to another table, we have a booking we need this table. Eh, behold the many unoccupied tables surrounding us... I said we are in the middle of eating our food we won 't be moving. She said my manager told me to ask you. And sure enough, there was a scowling man looking over at us. Like wtf? Go on out of that. Again I said, we 're not moving. She went off, came back slapped down a reserved sign on our bench. After we left we passed it twice within 30mins there was nobody at our table. So if you want a nice lunch in a friendly bar in Dublin with value for money, go elsewhere.
Disappointing visit for afternoon drinks with friends during one of first fine days of summer. Nice outdoor drinking terrace with lots to like and very funky, but our server clearly did not want to be working. We all have off days, but there was an attitude that fell short of professionalism. Drinks were good (but pricey enough), one exception a re invention of a Porn Star Martini did not go down well with friends saying there was not a pleasant taste. Pints of Moretti did not come in the proper glasses, not a grave offence but when paying top dollar for a pint you do expect everything to be top notch. Splitting the bill normally just routine in Dublin venues turned into a little drama, with a still clearly unhappy server insisting everyone paid cash, or everyone paid by card and all for exact amount unable to accommodate for example me paying for my partner. In fairness it may have been a bad day, and I would give it another visit but on this occasion none of us left very impressed. We did not eat, but food menu did look appealing.
I went for dinner with some friends while visiting the city. Beautiful architecture, very good pizzas and lovely cocktails!
