The Common - Eltham

My family went for lunch on Saturday with my sister from England. From the beginning with a friendly greeting to the end with a similar farewell we had a great time. The staff are excellent , efficient , friendly and with a sense of humour. The food is very good and the 3 vegetarians had a good choice and were happy. While the other 3 all had something different and were also happy. Good cocktails and coffee completed a most enjoyable lunch.

I love this cafe. It has excellent service , friendly staff , great ambience and good strong coffee. Rates very highly as a place to chill out as its not too noisy (when not busy). Really enjoyed the outdoor area while listening to the Eltham Jazz Festival.

Probably the best cafe in Eltham in terms of good service , ambience, friendly staff , coffee and food. New outdoor area was wonderful to sit in to enjoy the eltham jazz festival.

A group of us came here to try it out after alot of fuss from a few people - both good and bad reviews.We were seated quickly and our meals didn't take long to get to the table. The menu is good and comprehensive. But there is a vibe that we all agreed was something that just didn't suit us. We had a feeling the place was trying to be something it's not. Just another cafe. Decor is okay, seats uncomfortable, air conditioning too cool despite asking it to be turned down. The staff were okay but there seemed to be no camaraderie between them or a vibe of enjoying their work - just going through the motions. There was also a woman who may have been the duty manager or the owner who hovered around watching the staff and the tables - disconcerting and a little intimidating.Doubt I will return with so many other places to try in the area.
