Bob's Ranchhouse - Etna

We had a fantastic breakfast on Sunday! The waitress was delightful and made us feel right at home. The food was especially delicious; I enjoyed the California scramble while my husband opted for the vegetable omelette, which came with a generously sized sausage patty. We also treated ourselves to a homemade cinnamon roll, and it was likely the best one I've ever tasted. Every calorie was worth it!

I visited this restaurant for the first time because I couldn’t find another place in Yreka serving sit-down breakfast at 10 AM on a Sunday during COVID. To keep it short, the food was average, about three stars. However, I was really disappointed to see the staff not consistently wearing masks and allowing some customers to sit inside, which goes against California health regulations. While I don’t hold a grudge—I enjoyed my meal and left a generous tip—I won’t be returning to a place that doesn’t make me feel safe. Even though the odds of something serious happening from this visit are slim—around one in 100,000—the food simply wasn’t worth the risk. Next time, I’ll choose a restaurant that takes customer safety seriously, or I’ll stick to what I have at home.

The staff here are some of the friendliest people you'll ever come across. Even though it's no longer on the menu, you must try the Secretary's Delight. It's an open-faced sandwich topped with turkey, bacon, avocado, lettuce, and tomato, all drizzled with blue cheese dressing. It also comes with a side salad that features excellent ranch dressing. There's unlimited coffee, generous portion sizes, and the prices are quite reasonable. Plus, the cozy, homey atmosphere makes it even better!

Unfortunately, Bobs has permanently closed due to a kitchen fire. It's a disappointment to see this local favorite, a staple in Scott Valley for many years, no longer in operation.
