The 9th Wave is a small restaurant in a cottage up a track 15 mins walk from the road into Fionnphort. You can drive it but we didn't. Beautiful setting. There's a set menu. First time I've eaten food cooked by a Masterchef contestant. The courses were delicious and the ingredients genuinely local. One tiny quibble: the pemmican seemed hardly worth the effort. The wine list was really well considered. Friendly Carla, the chef, introduced each course with a story about the ingredients. I'll remember our lunch for a long time. You have to book well in advance as it's not open everyday and it's (long) lunches only. My advice: visit Iona in the morning and take the 12oclock ferry back in time for an amazing lunch at the 9th Wave.
Amazing experience, Crab signature dish was fantastic. Lovely place great food. Nice treat. Meal type: Dinner
We came here for my husband's belated 60 th birthday . We drove up from Lancaster, especially to go to this restaurant.we camped at fidden farm which is just down the road about 25 min walk. The restraint is in a lovely location and we were welcomed in at 7 pm and taken to our table. A lovely surprise to see a gift and a card for my husband's birthday.which I had completely forgot about when booking as his birthday was at the beginning of July. The ambience was lovely with some music playing in the background. We were waited on by a lovely lady and a gentleman in a kilt. The food was amazing! Also the drinks too. I had a gin and so did my husband and we don't touch the stuff, but it sounded so interesting with different herbs all grown locally.it was delicious. We had 5 courses all looked to good to eat. We finished by sharing a cheese board and a coffee. It's a very small homely resteraunt ,were everyone turns up at 7 pm and this works very well as you order everything at the start including your dessert. Thank you for a lovely evening. I would love to come again but as you will be focusing on group bookings and special occasions this may not be possible .I highly recommend a visit to this restaurant.
A very special place and certainly one that needs to be on your list if you appreciate food and flavour! Booking is essential as it's a small intimate dining experience and the menu is a set 4 or 5 courses, with some choice in that. The stand outs for us were the Crab Souffle (their signature dish! and also the Pink Peppercorn Merangue simply amazing! The whole operation is extremely well run and focuses entirely on the quality and flavour of the local ingredients. The staff are very attentive and helpful and above all it is extremely good value for money! Highly recommend if you're planning a trip to Mull!
