I'm not a fan of their brown stew chicken, but I enjoy their curry chicken. Their sides are tasty, and I typically choose between rice and peas, mac and cheese, or cabbage. Today, I ordered cabbage and rice and peas with curry chicken. The portions are generous, so I can usually get 2-3 meals out of one order. The restaurant tends to get busy around lunchtime, but the staff is always friendly.
I decided to stop at this restaurant while shopping at the Woodmore Town Center because I was hungry. I love Caribbean food, and this place stood out to me among all the other options available. It was my first time here, so I decided to keep it simple and tried their Brown Stew Chicken. I ordered the Brown Stewed Chicken Bowl with rice and peas and stir fry veggies as the sides, and also got the Coco Bread. The portions were generous and could possibly feed two people. However, the food could use more seasoning. The brown stew chicken and stir fry veggies were lacking in flavor compared to my favorite Caribbean restaurants in DC. The chicken was cut into chunks like chicken nuggets, which was different from what I am used to with bone-in chicken pieces. The gravy was also watery, making it taste bland. The pepper sauce was too mild for my taste. The rice and peas, on the other hand, were one of the better items on the plate. Overall, the food was just okay, not the best Caribbean food I've had. I might give Dat Jerk another try if I am in the area, but I am undecided. However, I must commend the excellent customer service and the delicious Coco Bread. The staff was friendly and the service was quick. The Coco Bread, in particular, was warm, soft, and delicious, and would make me consider returning to this restaurant.
This restaurant is excellent. The jerk chicken could be spicier for my liking, but it is very flavorful and not too salty. Adding some Rude Boy sauce gave it the heat I desired. The rice and peas were very satisfying. The beef pie had good pastry but was otherwise average. Overall, the food was great and reasonably priced. They also serve beer. A good place to grab some good Jamaican Jerk food and the service is timely. If you love Caribbean food a must if you are in the Woodmore area
Very unprofessional staff. I was given a time for a phone order, but i got there few minutes after to pick up and it was not ready. They kept asking each other who got the order and they looked clueless. No apologies, even when i spoke to them about the poor service. They just looked blankly and passed my food over to me like they didn't care. I was highly disappointed.
