Question: Can you find good Sushi in Wyoming? Answer: Absolutely. Bonsai with a mixed identity of Japanese and Chinese has some surprisingly outstanding sushi. WE passed on the Chinese and went solely with the Japanese. I always get a spider roll wherever I go for sushi. The one here was disappointing (the reason for a one star loss). They put lettuce in the roll and it actually over powered the crab. Just could not taste the soft shell. The other things we ordered were very good. The eel nearly melted in my mouth, the yellow tail was superb and the presentation was very nice. The service was fast and attentive, with all wait staff pitching in on all tables. Limited sake options which was a drawback.
They have a decent sized parking lot. The inside was cool, seating arrangement was nice. Decor was subdued and tasteful. They have a most talented sushi and sashimi master at work. Some of the dishes served at other tables looked delightful. We got a pupu platter for two, plus soup and sliced pork BBQ. Everything was wonderful. Everyone there seemed to be enjytheur meal- not a complaint or grumpy face to be seen. Waiters were polite and very efficient. We even got one of the desserts, the 'coffee cake 's to go. It wasn 't like any coffee cake we 've ever had- it was way better... This place gets two thumbs up for sure...
The Bonsai Sushi and Chinese Cuisine Restaurant is inconspicuous on the outside and without any ambience on the inside. Communication with the staff, who tried to be constantly friendly, was virtually impossible. Being able to respond to guests' wishes with very basic English skills is a difficult undertaking. So within a few minutes we received an aperitif, a starter to share, red wine and main courses all at the same time, which meant that the relaxation and coziness was over. The food was OK so far, but we tasted it much better in any other Chinese restaurant in the USA.
