Beautiful location. We attended a wedding party, the setting was perfect. We were 5 at our table, who did not eat fish, and the waiter was not informed about this. When they found out about this, the chef was informed, and they managed to change the menu for us. The dining room was crowded, and the noise in the room was loud. The party room for dancing could also be better. The acoustic was bad, and there were not many places to sit. You could not speak to one another in those rooms. The lobby service was not great. The room was ok, but you must have the curtains closed for privacy. The facet was loose. Our room was close to the main entrance and the noise from people was noticeable. The morning buffet was good.
An incredibly beautiful place, there is everything for rest and relaxation. good service, delicious breakfast. Near the sea, forest, lake, golf course and stables.
We spent a night in this pastiche of a Dutch castle, recently rebuilt after a somber passage of the second half of the 20th century when the place was left abandoned. For more on that, go to their Wikipedia page. It's located close to the strait between Denmark and Sweden looking east towards the island of Ven and is surrounded by a beautiful golf course. Our room in an annexe building was minuscule, but luckily there are the saloons in the main building, where you can stretch your legs and read without being disturbed. The bed occupies most of the room and the bathroom, looking anciently fancy, is far from practical with a wash basin placed under a small shelf in an unusually low position and not a single hook to hang the pleasantly thick and large towels after your shower. We had dinner in the brasserie of the main building since we did not want to participate in their 4 our 6 course gourmet dinner, too much for a simple evening meal. I chose halibut, unfortunately grossly overcooked and Olivia took a chanterelle risotto consisting of two chanterelles, a small lump of risotto and a small cone of corn. Breakfast, served between 07 and 09 am on week-days is OK for a four star establishment. Overall, a rather negative experience and poor value for money.
This is a hotel, but also a restaurant. The hotel is what I rate first. It's great, clean, nice in every way. Nothing extraordinary except perhaps the unique location. The restaurant however is something else, deserves 6 stars if I could. The food is made with passion and in interesting combinations of tastes, and I would strongly suggest to leave the choice of menu in the somelier and kitchen chief's, Martin's, capable hands to deliver an unforgettable experience here. Bon appetite. These guys deserve a Michelin star!
