Contribuer aux commentairesWe have been to this cafe many times and have always found the food ok for a snack but a little expensive for what you get. We went yesterday as we had relations visiting from overseas. We also had taken our miniature poodle. We sat outside in the sun and ordered our meals and within 10 mins the downpour came on and we moved inside under the roof but still outside. A waitress came and told us we were not allowed under cover as we had the dog. We could only sit under the shade cloth. She told us to move out. In disbelief I said it's raining. Her answer was it's because of this you can sit under the shade cloth. By now we were drenched and so was our food. I decided to make a run for the car and leave the dog there and come and eat what I could of my soggy food. The family once again moved inside and on my return we picked through the food and ate what we could. The coffee's were now cold and disgusting. I do understand that dog are not allowed inside but the only difference between these two places was a full roof and plastic curtains around the sides. We were not in the cafe. To add insult to injury a staff member then proceeded to move tables around us and made so much noise dragging them on the paving, we could not have a conversation. In total disgust we left. We will never return and it's a pity as it's has an awesome view but I guess they have no competition and don't care about regular customers
We drove here for an hour because we heard it was a good place with great food.We had the seafood platter for 2 at $49.00 and a couple of soft drinks because the water had an odd taste to it.The mussels, calamari and prawns were good, the battered fish was overcooked sadly. The place is nice and the staff friendly however had we read the previous comments before We decided to come we might not have made the effort.Would I come back again, probably not.By the way the Wi-Fi password is "burnsbeach" and was a lucky guess as our server didn't know at that stage.
Have visited Burns Beach cafe several times and just about always been underwhelmed by the experience. If it is just a coffee I am after, there are usually long queues and coffee is expensive. The couple of times I have stayed for a meal, the food has always been substandard, not poor or inedible, just bland.Great location and at times the atmosphere can be great.Last time I ate there, actually rang a few days before to make a booking only to arrive with no one having a clue about a booking and was told I could sit where I wanted. Luckily there were a few tables left but they were the tables that no one else wanted not a prime table that I would have liked for a nice lunch.I had the salt and pepper squid, portion size was huge but the squid was a little rubbery and lacked any real taste. Took a bottle of wine, BYO is nice but $3 corkage per person is not going to make me want to come back again. I get that there is a cost to providing a glass. If I do go again, I will BYO glass.I live nearby so will probably continue to get a coffee everynow and then but will be unlikely to stay for a meal.
Love the relaxed atmosphere . Casual , yet they try hard to make it posh . The service is so slow and it is pricy for the type of venue u get . It should be an exclusive restaurant or a beach place not in between .. it's a good mine they should jack it up for sure. Yes I will be back . For the view but they should have daily specials to make it more affordable . You wait for ages for a meal . So don't be in a rush . .
I had this special and it was really good, the best beef stew I've had. The coffee was excellent as well. As other reviewers stated, the prices are high. Nice atmosphere.
