I was asked if I wanted an English menu but I felt like I should have just stuck with the French menu, it seemed that they were actually slightly different and there were a few more choices on the regular French menu at least that’s what I thought when I compared them. I like how they don’t just give you jam and jelly, but also peanut butter and caramel spread. The waitress was nice, but when I asked for an order of pancakes along with my breakfast plate she took it upon herself to give me one pancake as a side. It was a bit odd, but it turned out fine as I wasn’t hungry when I left. The pancake had an odd texture, it was thick like a pancake but with a crepe texture. Even with the issues I still liked the food and it was fine. I just would know to stick with regular breakfast items and not get the pancakes. The sausages were very good and the eggs cooked perfect. Potatoes were like O’Brien potatoes. And it came with a few small pieces of fruit. Toast pieces were huge.
We came to this cafe to drink coffee and eat some dessert, since it was evening and we didn’t want to fill ourselves up. The atmosphere of the cafe is warm and cozy. In addition to coffee and dessert, we ordered squid. Delicious! We haven't eaten such delicious squid for a long time. The cakes were also very tasty, the portions were large.
In sum: large portions sizes (breakfast and lunch), reasonably priced and delicious. Courteous, friendly service. We stopped by Mikes after my partner completed his 125 km race at Harricana (UTHC). He fell asleep on the table and our waitress was so sweet about it and put the dishes on the table quietly so as not to wake him ? Myself and my children had breakfast and my partner had a small portion of spaghetti bolognese before he passed out. The veggie omelette was delicious and the portion size was large, so I shared some of my food with my teenage son. Our daughter had the kids crêpes and my son had the adult crêpes. The waitress was sensitive to the needs of our autistic son and made sure all his toppings were separate. Great experience to top off our time in La Malbaie. We will definitely be back next time. Merci beaucoup!
We bought pizzas. For those who knew Mikes back in the day, it ain’t the same. You get almost the same pleasure by buying them at the supermarket at a third of the price. Sorry for Dayi this but it’s true. But the staff is on par .
Pizza peperrony was good. Otherwise… the chicken salad style general Tao-is not recommended because of wet vegetables like marinated swimming in the strange sauce. The French fries were useless-not eatable like paper)…the staff was nice.
