The day after Christmas, my wife and I were visiting family around Denver and they made reservations to Sierra a week in advance. This place was definitely aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Modern meets wooden cabin vibes with wall to wall windows encompassing views of the city. The low lit lighting mixed with the ambiance provided a simplified luxurious experience. Our server Vanna, was very detail oriented and did a phenomenal job at keeping our thirsts quenched with ample water checks. Her personality was a hit with our table and made the atmosphere even more enjoyable. Our family ordered wedge salads along with their Wood-Fired Salmon and Cowboy Steak. Both throughly enjoyed their salads and entrees. My wife also enjoyed the Cowboy Burger and fries. My chicken fajitas did not lack flavor and they made sure to give me an abundance of onions. Their in-house made tortillas were top-notch and was great to pair with the chicken and onions. It’s great to note too that all of the entrees came out at the exact time and no one’s entree had to be “sacrificed”. That’s hard to balance, especially when you have a 90 minute wait for a table. Very thankful our family made reservations beforehand. Overall a great ambiance and well-done food makes this place notable if you are around the Lone Tree area.
Atmosphere is great. It‘s an upscale establishment. But the food is average. We ordered the cowboy steak and the Louisiana shrimp . The steak was cooked OK. the shrimp was so salty it actually disguised any other taste. The service is very pleasing and accommodating but she forgot to give us a steak knife for the steak. We had to ask for one 1/2 way through the mail. With the kind of establishment I was expecting more. The highlight of the evening was the appetizer. Tuna sashimi was very good. The wine tasted flat. The place place could do so much better.
Food was good. I also cannot really complain much about the service. And I could admire the decorations. However neither of those were exceptional, meanwhile, their prices were high and overall it feels that for what we got we paid more than we should. First, our waitress missed one (one of just two! of the appetizers we ordered. I would agree that it was not too critical but still, I do prefer when employers are listening while customers are ordering. Guacamole did not feel like it is really fresh. It was not listed as “made to order”, but from a place which positions itself as an upscale one, I would expect more. One of fish tacos had double tortilla. It’s a little strange and again, it’s all about the attention. I actually would be much less surprised if both would be on double ones. Then, it could be intentional. But only one, seriously?.. It is likely to mean that they either accidentally make one with the double tortilla or they forget to put second tortilla to the other taco. Not the upscale level. Fish tacos were accompanied by Vietnamese brown rice. I would really expect side taco rice to be Mexican rice (the white rice boiled with tomatoes . I cannot really recall wether it was or was not explicitly specified in the menu that tacos are accompanied with the brown rice, but even it was, anyway, honestly, these two do not pair well. $44 Mendoza Malbec we ordered was not bad, but was not as full body as one would expect from Mendoza… We got to a grocery store afterwords and the one we bought there for $13.99 was much better. I would not mind to pay $44 at a restaurant for that one which we got from the store, but the one that we got in the restaurant… the fair restaurant price feels more like $25. We ended up spending a little over $100 per person, and we neither eat or drink too much. So, honestly, overall, only thing that was upscale there were prices. Everything else was on fairly good but was not on the upscale level. I am unlikely to go there another time, unless it’s a last resort.
Amazing ambiance, good service, great food. Best artichoke we’ve ever tasted, followed by petite filet dinner. We recommend making reservations several days/weeks in advance or coming on a weekday.
