This is the greatest restaurant city. We do not usually venture downtown to restaurants. We have eaten at Vincenzo’s, which is WONDERFUL, but that is the only downtown restaurant we have frequented. So, we decided to try another restaurant not in the suburbs. Selecting Proof on Main proved to be a mistake. It was the worst dining experience we have had in all of Louisville. We selected Thursday night. I ordered the duck and my husband ordered steak. The first clue should have been when the bread was delivered without butter and dropped haphazardly on the table. At the time, we thought that was funny. Then, both our meals were served cold by a person designated to deliver the meals, not our waiter. It was disgusting to try to eat them. In addition, the flavor of the duck did not match that we have had at 211 Clover in St. Matthews. Sadly, we happened to get a waiter that was a student and acquaintance working his way through college. Rather than cause any hardship for him, we paid our $135.00 bill and returned home to eat cereal for dinner. However, we did bring home the cold meat to be used in a future homemade soup. In addition, the noise in the restaurant was so loud it was difficult to hold a conversation. If we enjoyed it, we had discussed taking friends to dinner there. We could not imagine six people trying to carry on a conversation in such a decibel level. Overall, there are a lot of cute gimmicks that try to mimic experiences in major cities, but the food is not worth the trip. Just go for drinks.
The cocktails were excellent, shrimps and grits were great. The waiting staff was friendly and the whole experience felt unique and special. Definitely recommend.
The food was fantastic! We enjoyed everything from the octopus appetizer to the chocolate mousse for dessert.
A wonderful evening. Interesting menu that produces well-run meals, with attentive waiting staff. A special notation for Mark, our evenings sommelier. He was charming and helpful. His recommendation was for a wine I never tasted, but excellent!
The menu was limited, the Frittata was quite over cooked and on a dish with nothing to make it look attractive, the service was incredibly slow. The hotel is wonderful, but the restaurant leaves something to be desired. The staff was nice.
