Meat and cut pork sandwiches are both pretty great. I ordered three sandwiches: carved beef, carved pork and a rib sandwich. I thought it was interesting to mention the chipped beef sandwich with pimple relish if you prefer not to relish. I really liked it. The cut pig was my favorite, even if the pig was a bit on the dry side, it still had a big taste. The rib sandwich was two ribs both were somehow dry filled in a hot dog bunker and covered with barbecue sauce. It was my least favorite, but honestly, it was still kind of good. All I thought I really liked the place. Neta has been open since 1955. I had appeared at 1:00 on a very hot day and there were about 15 people who gave up their order. For a place without indoor dining room, Neta's seems incredibly popular among locals. Most people eat in their cars in the parking lot. Next time I will try to save space for a coke boat, a road trip must love where root beer and Coca Cola boats are still being sold.
Hold on to the sandwiches. In all accounts the sandwiches are good, but the ribs were inspiring. I will give them points to actually smoke them, but like many Louisiana BBQ places they don't know what a dry garbage is. The pages were not very good. Beans from the can of potato salad swim in mayonnaise. The sauce was ok and the price was good, corresponding quantity and quality.
Perhaps the best down-to-ear burgers in the universe. Simple, but sooo delicious.
I'm a big fan of Neta's Chipped Beef Sandwiches. I like adding pickles and onions to them. They remind me of Bill Miller's chopped sandwiches in San Antonio. I've ordered them close to a dozen times. You walk up and order at the window. Service is always fast and friendly. I've ordered a few sides from time to time but haven't found anything that I thought was exceptional. I love the fact they have stacks of wood for smoking outside. That's always a good sign!
