I know that the church does a lot for the community, so I wanted to show my support. The cafe is a hidden gem with a basic menu, but the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. We tried the homemade lasagne and it was superb, along with a pot of tea. The cakes were also homemade, but we were too full from the generous portion of lasagne to try them, so we took some home. The menu is limited, offering sandwiches, jacket potatoes, and a lunchtime special. They also serve breakfast all day, with options ranging from small to a 'hungry man's' breakfast, which includes 4 sausages and rashers of bacon for £7.99. The cafe is only open Monday to Friday from 9am to 2pm.
The food was tasty and beautifully presented. The waitstaff were very attentive. The cleanliness of the restaurant was also notable.
When we moved to the area and didn't know anyone, we stumbled upon this cafe. The staff was very friendly, and we learned that it is run by volunteers. The meals are homemade and delicious. My daughter really enjoys the food. They are also accommodating for those with food intolerances, going above and beyond to provide suitable meals. The restaurant has disabled access, clean toilets, and plenty of space for wheelchairs. They have just started serving daily specials, including quiche and fresh salads with a variety of choices like ham, chicken, and cheese, perfect for the summer. We will definitely be visiting this place more often after our last visit.
Called in for a Breakfast, the standard of food has unfortunately gone down. The server was fine, cheerful and polite, but the breakfast was decidedly average and nowhere near as good as before. The sausage was some mass produced catering quality stuff, the bacon was fatty, the black pudding cold, beans poor quality and lukewarm. As if whoever had cooked it could not get timings right. Décor etc. fine. I am sorry to have to leave an average review, I shall try again, I was disappointed due to previous excellent high standard. Fingers crossed it was a one-off.
I eat here most days always enjoy my visit! The breakfasts are lovely and they do a full monty for £5.99 which is enough to fill anybody! They also have a large gluten free/dairy free/vegetarian selection and daily specials. The meals are all great value and freshly prepared. The staff are friendly and often add little bonuses for us regulars! They have a proper coffee machine so it's nice even for just a coffee cake. Their Sunday lunch is also delicious. It's £4.50 for a home cooked roast with proper Yorkshire puddings tons of meat. Definately worth a visit. They also have a great room for functions such as parties weddings.
