Excellent food and very nice ambience. Typically Italian service with a lot of charm. Highly recommended. Greetings P. Burlet Gossau ZH
We were only in the BAR; This is very cozy and is great for a quiet drink in the evening (e.g. after dinner). I would love to visit the bar again.
I have not been to the restaurant. The hotel... is to be avoided. First the price : above 200 euros! So there are other properties with comparable prices in the neighbourhood, yet in absolute terms: not cheap. Second: the room is spacious but very poorly...furnished: there is no cupboard, just an open space where you can hang your clothes see photo 1). How much can it cost to put a simple Ikea cupboard? Thirdly, the bathroom is very small photo 3). The basin is tiny and placed in such an odd manner that you have to lean forward in order not to dirty the place photo 4). Finally, there is nobody at night. So in case of fire or leak or if you have lost your key, you can sleep on the street. There is a way to call reception from the outside door of the hotel, but the person who answers is in another city and cannot help you; she I think it was a woman) asks you to get in touch with somebody from the restaurant, forgetting that the establishment is closed This actually happened to a guest who had lost his key). My advice... Avoid this establishment at all cost or negotiate to sleep for free!
If you enjoy local, seasonal dining, you will love Jakob. I had their five course menu with wine pairings. Every bite was delightful, and the wine pairings were spot on. The service was on par with my experience at three star Michelin restaurants. The meal...took me around two and a half hours and I enjoyed every minute of it. This is rather expensive compared to other restaurants in Rapperswil, but I think it is worth every Franc. I would gladly come back just to experience their menu when different items are in season.
