It was a busy Saturday night, so the service was a bit slow due to the crowd. However, the service was still excellent, just as I remembered. The highlight of the evening was definitely the calamari. Not only was the portion size generous, but it was the best calamari I've ever had. It was tender and cooked perfectly. While most places fail to impress with their calamari, this dish was exceptional and so flavorful. The seasoning was just as delightful as our hosts.
After ordering a bottle of Hungarian red wine, we started with two orders of their famous Hungarian goulash soup as an appetizer, which was enough for all five of us. Served in a cast iron pot, it was flavorful with Hungarian paprika, noodles, and a delicate balance of sweet and spicy. It was a winner and a great start to the meal. Next, our main dishes arrived - house plates for two. The generous portions included various carvings, along with rice, roasted carrots, red cabbage, mushrooms, and sausages. Everything was delicious, the meat was tender and melted in our mouths, and the portions were large. We had plenty of leftovers for a full dinner the next day for only $75. My son ordered the cranberry-stuffed chicken breast, which was also delicious and provided him with plenty to take home. As we enjoyed our meal, a violinist and pianist duo serenaded us, adding to the ambiance of the evening. It felt as though we were transported to a simpler time. I highly recommend this hidden gem for a fantastic night out. Please note that they are only open from Thursday to Sunday.
The chicken carving was excellent - light, crisp, and a generous portion. The mashed potatoes were good, but the red cabbage was perfection. This was our first time dining here and we were very satisfied with the food. Highly recommend and will be returning in the future.
Not to know what was to be expected during the “COVID”, we have this Hungarian restaurant on the recommendation of a complete stranger. A recommendation that we are grateful for. Within the seat was a “no go”. So it was the terrace (limited) for us. Don't make a statement, the owner of this facility is extremely careful and take care of their clientele. So much so, they cut out a considerable amount of menu that feared a Covid transfer. Your food... excellent Hungarian cuisine! Nothing that was consumed was less than appetite and full of taste. Authentic least to say. A must go.
Delicious Hungarian food at very good prices. My favourites are the goulash soup, cucumber salad with sour cream, wiener schnitzel, cabbage rolls with sour cream, and the classic multi-layer Dobos cake. Service is friendly and quick at this family run restaurant.
