The dinner was fantastic, and I was thrilled that we were seated right by the railing with an ocean view. My guest from New York loved it. The server was excellent, with a wonderful personality. Duke's is a place I always recommend to my guests and give gift cards to my real estate clients.
I was initially unsure about dining here, but I was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere, location, and food. As an out-of-state visitor, the view and decor truly encapsulated the essence of California. The food was outstanding as well. The tuna taco appetizer was exceptional, offering a perfect blend of tenderness and crispiness with impeccable seasoning. I could have easily eaten a dozen. The sticky ribs were also delicious, featuring a unique flavor profile with hints of anise and heat. The seafood hotpot was a mild green curry with only minor flaws being small mussels and slightly overcooked lobster. The fish and shrimp, however, were cooked perfectly. Lastly, the key lime pie was tangy, creamy, and acidic, paired with a sweet and crunchy crust. Topped with visible lime zest, it exceeded my expectations and ranked among the best key lime pies I have ever tasted at a restaurant.
We got a beautiful table to celebrate a birthday. The calamari appetizer was burnt and the panko crust was not great. The poke tacos were good. Macadamia crusted mahi mahi portion was tiny for the price and undercooked wobbly and slightly pink in the thickest area of the fish. Baked ono was cooked well but sides for both just kind of blah flavor. Kids fish and chips fries were cold and minimal (8 10 fries), fish decent. Hula pie always good but no additional flavor available (usually have 2 options). Server noticed the uneaten portion of fish and asked. She was very helpful at that point.
Outstanding meal as always. We love Dukes! You won’t be disappointed!
