Solid choice. The restaurant has a college town/ hippie vibe and the music beingplayed adds to that. Overall a good choice.
Hidden gem! The Salvation was so delicious and the prices are right. Vibe is funky and one for those places that stays the same through time. True original. Definitely stop by here when in San Marcos????
We drive over an hour to get the sandwiches. Our preference is the salvation and roast beef, both with extra meat. The staff is very friendly. We always order to go but eat a wedge there n take the rest home or eat by the river. Be sure and take a sharpiepen when you go, so you can write your name on the wall. It's been a favorite since the 80's (SWT #1) and still the best sourdough bread sandwich I've ever had.
I must say best sandwich shop in San Marcos Texas since the day I've been born I recommend trying the famous salvation sandwich on French bread always a go-to for me as a kid I will get chopped BBQ on French bread but a very low key sandwich shop withgreat vibes also leave a memory while you're there and Tag your name or phrase on one of the numerous surfaces or booths to lookback on as you revisit. PS I will drive all the way from Austin Texas just to get a sandwich from this hidden gem.
The best sandwich shop! It is worth waiting and I am shocked it has not changed over the years. My husband was very hesitant to try the place because of the dated look, he was surprised how delicious the sandwich was, but disappointed with the soda fountain with very few works.
