Shogun Japanese - Santa Cruz

Fabulous Japanese cuisine and sushi. We had several roles that were especially for this situation and they were all fantastic! The Gilroy roll had a slow spiciness/warm that was built and lingered... it was excellent. The quality of the sushi was also top notch. There were so many elements on the VERY excursion menu that need several visits to try everything; and that would not matter. Would go back!

Miso soup was great, not too salty. Shogun Poppers were excellent, Jalapeño with salmon, spicy Mayo, Sriracha and cream cheese. Donkatsu was also good with huge quantities.

Dinner here was very pleasant. They had a number of articles on the menu including vegetarian options. They offer a variety of Japanese squeeze options.

Friendly service and decent roles. Udon, too. Large dinning hall, clean bathroom, great location.

It's always iffy to find a good sushi place when you're on vacation. My family eats a lot of Japanese food at home, and we found Shogun to be a lovely restaurant. The food was delicious and fresh, the service was friendly and personable, and the prices were good for the amount of food we got. Whenever I'm in Santa Cruz and want sushi, Shogun will be the place I go!
