I had the chicken marsala, very gentle aromen. the house made dressings for the salads were so fresh, we had basilikum venaigrette and balsamico vinaigrette. waitress was attentive, service good, view over the valley stunning!
When I first moved to the area, I passed by the Letter Drop a few times. I thought it would be nice to stop in and try out the restaurant, maybe the atmosphere and food would be like a nice country cafe with home style cooked food. Boy was I wrong! The Letter Drop Restaurant is a fine dining experience My wife and I came to the Letter Drop Restaurant for our anniversary dinner. The exterior is unassuming, but it's charming inside. We started with appetizers: bacon wrapped shrimp with hoisin sauce. Grilled to perfection with just the right amount of sauce. I ordered the letter drop salad with herb vinaigrette. Fresh young salad greens with tomatoes and cucumbers and a house made herb vinaigrette. All dressings are made in house I then ordered the variety plate: Quail stuffed with wild rice and pine nuts, wild boar sausage and venison filet. The dish included herb encrusted browned red potatoes and seasonal vegetables which included carrots, Brussel Sprouts and cauliflower. I paired this with the house wine, a Robert Mondovi Cabernet. My wife ordered the duck tender and delicious For desert, we shared the chocolate and coffee ice cream cake and I had a cup of coffee to accompany The Letter Drop restaurant is a true gourmet dining experience. The menu, atmosphere, service and food are exceptional. When you consider the fact that everything is made from scratch in-house, with limited staff and a full menu, this is more than just an exceptional restaurant it's an amazing restaurant. If you are visiting the area, top off your visit by calling ahead and making reservations. If you live in the area and haven't dined here, you owe it to yourself to experience the finest Westcliffe has to offer.
