Amazing food, great atmosphere and lovely staff. I fully recommend this to anyone on a date, with friends or family.
Good and simple pasta, nothing extraordinary. Perfect for a casual datenight. Relaxed atmosphere! :
Amazing spot if you like Italian and sea food, or just want to hang and have some drinks. I can really recommend the chicken pasta!
Long weekend in Stockholm with my lovely wife, and as usual we had booked a table at some restaurants we wanted to visit. First up was the old man and the sea. When we arrived, we were asked if we wanted to sit outside, and we said yes. Before we got to the table, however, another waiter had given it to some other guests, so we had to sit inside. Not a good start. After being placed on a table in a cramped corner we were given a menu and then forgotten. Our waiter was more concerned with a friend who was visiting with a cute puppy, so we saw almost nothing more of him for the rest of the evening. Luckily, we managed to get the attention of other waiters. For starters we ordered Cozze Gratinate (Garlic butter au gratin mussels, peperoncino, parsley and breadcrumbs). It was served, but we only got one person. It was a bit difficult to get in touch with the waiters, so we shared the starter instead. It was just as well, by the way, they were simply boring with little taste. It tasted mostly of butter and little else and grew in the mouth with each bite. Then there was the main course. We both ordered Rana Pescatrice (monkfish fillet with olive oil, garlic, chilli, tomato sauce, cream). However, if we wanted potatoes, vegetables or similar, this had to be ordered separately. To me, that is odd. If you compose a dish, you include all the ingredients. I mean, I don't want to choose between 5 Contorini accessories. I want to enjoy what the cook means is the best ingredients, including accessories, for each dish. Anyway, we ordered Patate alla provinciale (raw fried potatoes with butter, olive oil, garlic, parsley and rosemary) and Carciofini in tegame (fried artichokes with garlic, parsley and pepperoncino). For some reason we were not very surprised when the waiter came with two Patate alla provinciale and no Carciofini in tegame. We didn't even bother to complain. The Rana Pescatrice was simply delicious. I just loved how they managed to balance the taste of this kind of white fish and tomato-based sauce. I must admit that I feared that the tomato-based sauce should overshadow the fish, but that did not happen. The only downside was the accessory Patate alla provincial. It was so salty that we didn't manage to eat it, we should never have ordered that. To sum it up: The Rana Pescatrice was very good, the rest of the dinner was either too salty or too tasteless or too…. The service was not good. So, it is not likely that I will pay them a visit again.
