This is a wonderful restaurant which is my favorite place for dinner in Södermalm. I went twice with friends so I had the opportunity to sample quite a few different menu items. The best main entree is the whole trout which is spiced differently and brilliantly from anything I have tried elsewhere. The eggplant dishes are tasty and healthy, while my favorite drink is doogh--no alcohol and contains yogurt. I was also delighted with saffron ice cream for dessert. The entire staff is attentive and go out of their way to be helpful. If I lived nearby I would go a few times each month.
Absolutely fantastic food and service! Four of us came in here after wandering Stockholm all day. My friend had come here before with her boyfriend and raved about them. We were not disappointed! The service was excellent. Everyone was so nice and very helpful with making recommendations. They had a fantastic list of cocktails, which were creative and still very delicious. I hate when you order something that sounds good, but is not executed and tastes the way you think it would. I have had it go the other way too though and tasted a drink I thought sounded terrible, but is surprisingly smooth and tasty. The food was amazing. It was plentiful and flavorful. The perfect close to a wonderful day exploring this wonderful city.
We absolutely loved this restaurant! A Stockholm local recommended it to us, and we now understand why. We tried the eggplant appetizer (without the egg), lamb chops, minced lamb dish, saffron rice, and a dish with fruits and nuts. We also enjoyed saffron ice cream, pannacotta, and Persian black tea for dessert. It was surprising to see how busy it was on a Monday night, and it seemed like most of the customers were locals, which is always a positive sign.
A year ago in 2016, this restaurant was excellent with great food, good service, and a pleasant experience. However, the quality of the food has been declining recently. During my most recent visit, the food was terrible. We ordered rice with zereshk, but there were very few zereshk in each dish. Additionally, we requested the meat to be medium grilled, but it was significantly overcooked. The service was also slow, as we had to wait 30 minutes for someone to take our order and an additional 45 minutes for our food, despite only 4 other customers in the restaurant. I am disappointed with the current state of this restaurant, and I regret having to give it a one-star rating. Until these issues are resolved, I will not be returning to Tehran Grill.
