The roast chicken tasted like it was out of a marks and Spencer packet and warmed up. The vegetables were definitely supermarket frozen and the gravy awful. I’m really sad to be be writing such a bad review but this once local jewel (see my previous of it) is now just a shadow of itself. Really depressing they’ve let it go so badly.
I wanted to like this. I really did. A traditional pub that was still serving locals at the bar, so must have had something going for it. It started going wrong when I received orange squash instead of (concentrated) juice to be fair, they did change it, without fuss. Then the food came. Mine was fine: the vegetarian fajitas a sizzler, so a bit of a showpiece; and I thought it was fine and generous. My wife went for the fish and chips, but beneath the batter the fish tasted dry and frankly old. Because it was a bit hit and miss, this is not a place we are likely to try again. Sorry.
Had another Sunday Roast ordered and went to colllect, had a a drink picked up the food, as usual it was brilliant, Great value and taste!
Excellent and comfortable small hotel, good food and drinks. Not too far from central Windsor with their in off-street parking
We stayed here and we enjoyed our stay. It wasn’t the most ritzy place but it makes the England tour more enjoyable. We had dinner in the pub one night and there was about 8 dishes on the menu that weren’t available, so we had limited options
