We went to Loge for dinner and cinema on a Friday evening. We had been there before for dinner and the convenience of a Bar, Cinema and restaurant in one location encouraged us to return. The ground floor of the Loge is a popular and usually busy bar. The decor is modern with areas to sit and stand either at the bar or around the edge of the room. There is (by observation) a good selection of drink choices available and the service is timely if its not over crowded. The restaurant is located upstairs and surrounds the bar area on a mezzanine. Most of the tables are for 2 people with the odd larger table for 4 available too. The spacing of the table is a little cramped for a private romantic evenings dinner but this is due to the overall size of the restaurant area being quite small. The other factor is the proximity of the bar downstairs, the mood lighting of the restaurant clashes a little with the coloured lighting of the bar as does the large plasma TV on the rear wall of the bar showing live sports, as clearly visible to those on the ground floor as it is for those sat upstairs spoiling the ambience very slightly. The menu selection is good serving seasonal dishes as well as regular. There is also a good vegetarian selection if required as well as flexibility to other dietary requirements. The food is well presented and service is prompt and friendly. I enjoyed a pumpkin, ginger and leak soup to start followed by a veal ragout. Both were tasty, well seasoned and well proportioned but the ragout was lacking the quantity of meat I would expect for the price. The wine list provides a good choice, wine by the glass is also available with selected wines. The Cinema is small and slightly boutique but the price is the same as larger commercial cinemas. The screens are a little smaller that the bigger cinemas but they show the modern releases and the timings are accommodating to having dinner at a sensible time before the film. Don't forget about the commercial/ice cream break half way through the movie where the film stops and lights come on for 15 mins. If you find this as antiquated and frustrating as I, this may sway your decision about where you watch your film. A nice evening out to start the weekend, a little expensive but you are paying for the quirky mix of all 3 venues in one location and being in Switzerland.
