The claw was interesting. It wasn't just cabbage. I thought there were pineapples and Brussels shoots, but I think there was something else I couldn't identify. The Jalapeno Hush puppies were shaped like small tubes and tasted fine. The fish was a huge piece of cod with almost too much beerbatter on it. The bread was almost the defining taste. I'd probably go back, but I'd try something else. The onion leaves looked interesting.

We have been eating regularly at the Blue Koi for years, having first gone to the original location on 39th Street and then migrating over to the Leawood location due to its proximity to our house. The owners are regularly there; they have seen our kids grow up. Watching the cooks at Blue Koi is in itself an amazing experience. These guys are masters at the art of sauteing, frying, roasting, and braising, and they work as a team, much like a dance troupe. We always sit at the bar to watch them work. The food is creative, comforting (the restaurant's claim to fame), and consistently excellent. The firebird duck is my favorite, with a super-spicy sauce that coats the duck and the green onions and sings out. It's kind of a rough feel on the tongue, as if the spices were fresh, hand-ground. The noodles are fantastic, and if you wish for brown rice, the portions are pleasing. Also a favorite is the braised tofu which comes in an unctuous brown soy gravy with lots of mushrooms. The dumplings are fantastic, be they pan-fried or boiled. My kids swear that the bubble tea here is the best that they have had, and they have had a lot. This place has expert service with friendly waitstaff and greeters (often the owners). The food is delicious, and although it's pricey, it's because the quality of ingredients is superb, food is made to order by that great team of cooks, and you will get enough for a meal the next day. I can't speak more highly of this restaurant.

In the process of getting her home, I managed to do what every nightmare has about: I dropped the box and ruined all cookies. I called Blue Chip and told them what happened. They could make a new stack in a few hours to save the day! If you are a clumsy person in the area of Kansas City, I would recommend Blue Chip.

The manager was very nice and very helpful. She made my experience better even if I didn't complain and I had a satisfying tip she noticed my experience in her restaurant was not good. I want to come back to see if it's always like that, or I just came on a bad day.

I brought this to the attention of security and no one did anything. I went to the bar and the bartender was charging different prices for drinks depending on who she was serving. For example, my friend got charged 10.00 for the same drink I got charged 8.00 for. This establishment also does not allow patrons to have an open tab. After I finished my drink I was attempting to follow up with security about the crowd control issue. Several members of security were drinking and taking shots. My friend and I left before Lloyd even got to the stage because of the lack of security. Most of the staff was lost, you cant find who is in charge, and it seems as if no one cares. The event started at 10pm and we stayed until about 1:15, what a waste to have Lloyd come out in the last 30 min of the event. We did not see Lloyd and We will not be returning to this establishment.
