I asked if they do anything special for birthdays and she informed me I can speak to our server to get a free dessert. We arrived at 6 p.m and were told it would be a 30 min wait. It was for this exact reason we were hoping to get a reservation. When we did finally get seated, our server was gone for a long time after he handed us menus. We hoped the food would make up for the wait time. I ordered crab cakes which I love but these were the worst ones I've ever had. I only ate one. My husband had a pork chop which was good but not great. We did, however, enjoy the duck fat fries. I informed the server after we were done eating that we would have the brownie as the birthday dessert. The server hadn't even cleared our table before he brought the brownie. We had to push our plates around our table to make room for dessert. We eventually signalled a different server to get us a to-go box and toclear plates. Overall the entire experience was a huge disappointment. From not being able to make reservations I'd have loved it if we could have been able to make prior plans to have dessert brought out as a surprise and to not have to wait for a table) . For what you pay, the food was really underwhelming. Our server wasn't rude but he wasn't friendly either and his service was wanting. I would only come back for a drink I recommend the witch slap) and kudos to the lady at the bar who served us.

Cannot recommend Black Pearl enough for a morning coffee or afternoon energy drink pick me up! The staff is wonderful and are always willing to help my coworker... The double smoked ham was great, the bacon was hard to smoke if you like it. The sausage sword was a little under seasoned, but some salt, pepper and hot sauce helped. The best part of the visit was our server. He was super attentive, fast and friendly. Will definitely eat here again.
