Lovely cafe with great location, beautiful indoors like 19th century Vienna. Superb apple strudel homemade. Coffee is also high class.
We were recommended to go here by some locals we met further down on the Kaiser Wilhelm Promenade. It was also just down the road from our hotel, Villa Excelsior. We ordered espresso grob, which are double espresso and my bf had a strudel covered...in vanilla custard sauce. The coffee in particular was amazing. There are outdoor chairs and tables that get the sun in the afternoons and the cafe does lunch including pasta and soups.
While hiking around in Bad Gastein surely you pass by Cafe Schuh on one of the main trails going or coming from Grune Baum or Bad Hofgastein. Nice staff and good coffe cakes, so have a rest and enjoy the sunny terrace.
Eat bad quality: a burned homelette, a freeze-dried immediate suppe with a floating brot (1 eur per disc), a yogurt cake that was only sugary and burrowed. the bad quality of eating was wonderfully accompanied by the cruel manage of the oldest waiter, who was particularly enthusiastic to show how unfriendly the whole welcome is, especially for families. the only bright is the availability and courtesy of the other waiters who at least the bad experience with a good human touch stifle.
