To begin, there is little to no parking anywhere near the vicinity of the pub. I know that downtown Calgary is parking premium (both in space and price), but I have ALWAYS been able to park in front of an establishment, regardless of where in the city it was. Secondly, the place is basically a huge dive; dark, dank, if not for the people working there being super-friendly, this is a VERY unfriendly place, in terms of atmosphere and ambiance; upstairs is better, but that's only due to Gettoni (foosball) and pool tables. Oh yeah, and the seating, upstairs or downstairs, sucks, especially when stuck-up hipsters are basically the entire clientele and need that second chair for their jacket and, "things."Everything else was great though; we ate quesadillas which were absolutely awesome and while my fiancée and I didn't drink, from the different selections that my friends had, the choice of drinks is not bad; that and they commented on the quality of the beverages.Hit and miss; if you're a hipster and you like dark, depressing atmospheres, then this place is for you and thensome. If you ever stop by though, try the quesadillas, for sure.
Popped in for a beer. Great choice of beers available but on pricey side. Friendly service. Outside of building has charm.Sat inside and it was way too hot. Music was repetitive - Beatles album throughout. Love the Beatles but variety would have been good.Decor is like old pub. Clientele more of student/hipster type.Potential to be better. Don't go out of way to visit.
The atmosphere is nice but the pizza, for what they were charging for it, was disappointing. They were very, very stingy with both the toppings and the cheese. The selection of import and domestic craft beers is very good, but their pizza needs improvement.
Thought it looked cool, old house, small hipster kind of place. Friday night, bar service only, went up to the bar and asked about two local beers on tap and got a pretty basic answer, asked for the IPA. One of the worst pours I've seen in a very long time with 75% head. Hidden behind the bar they scooped the extra head into a half full jug (of already poured beer, presumably more extra head that was hidden behind the bar) THEN FILLED THE PINT WITH THE OLD JUG and not the tap. I had to lean over the bar to see this but it gets better, they charged us 17 dollars for two pints of not great beer........ never in my life have I seen something so bad, so cheap and so expensive.
Excellent place for a pint, lots of good beers on tap with rotating kegs. The pizza is particularly good. The atmosphere is very cozy, definitely recommend this place.
