Saturate on a sticky table where the waitress just stacked 2 plates, 2 cups... and cutlery in the middle of the sticky table. Ordered food and declared one of us unable to eat milk. Stack garlic naan on my not milk order and then a dish did not say milk and then said it did and then did not say it. She dropped a salad in a bowl on the table that had a big hair in it. And to complete everything, you could not use the laundry room except to wash your hands, but the cook went into her while we eat and was at her age; probably take a dump. This is a small restaurant and the laundry room is about 10' from the table. We were never asked if we ever wanted to drink. Just give us water. This place is the strangest. We never go back. Never had such a terrible service.
I've eaten in Mirchi since she opened and at the previous incarnation, Lahore Tikka, 10 years before. The food is authentic Pakistani street and budget restaurant tariff. The Karahi Gosht (lamb Curry cooked in a heavy iron wok with the...bone always) brings back memories of my sojourns in Pakistan in the late seventies and early eighties. They have excellent grilled dishes with lamb and beef ribs (button), a bone on Chicken Karahi and a bone on Chicken Curry. My preference is Tandoori Roti over Naan and it is always on the outside and soft inside. The chicken Biriyani, again with bones the real Pakistani way, is wonderfully spiced, generous with the Elachi (Kadam), and not shy on the amount of chicken. It is very convenient for a city center Pakistani restaurant. The city's NE will be cheaper, but you can spend double downtown with low quality and quantity. Pakistani food is hotter than Indians and they care about Pakistani taste, the majority of their customers. Expect a spicy meal. Don't expect a bone curry because it's not really Pakistani food. Pakistani curry is very different from Indian curry. In India they cook the spices first the meat, which means that the meat does not caramelize and get a nice crust. In Pakistan they cook and milk the meat first, caramelize it and then the spices are added. Expect the best Pakistani in town. Although they serve it, butter chicken is NOT Pakistani food. Some customers ask for coconut rice (LOL) and do not receive it. You have to go Thai. Some people have commented that they couldn't get a boneless curry. This complaint is unfair to the restaurant. Authentic Pakistani food is always on the bone, be it lamb, goats or chicken. The only meat dish not on the bone is nihari when made with beef. One of my favorite restaurants.
I see many reviews and talk about Indian food. Various flavors and typical East Indians. Owned and operated by scholarship holder Pakistan. These are objects that are authentic and good. Best Reshmi Kababab Seekh (seesh) Kababababs Lamb Kerhai Daal... Beef (actually good) Lamb hacks (average) Order and choose personally. Preferably eat; the quality is different when you order Skip! not sure why.
I just ordered a few basic foods to go to East India. My preference was for your base from the bone chicken, curry and rice. Aside from the bone, however, there were apparently no limits. So I decided to believe or not, chicken on the bone. When I examined my meal... on arrival at home I began to understand this logic. The chicken, three small pieces were in fact, mostly bones. A ton of rice and a, not ordered inedible salad, aka salad. Compost, the curry sauce was very delicious. But my wife and I are $37 meal was to say the at least 90% rice and fillers. I have this time, never again.
Great Pakistani style food. When I started going, this was a take out place that had a couple of tables. Note they have renovated and it is very pleasant to dine in. The food is great, and I’ve had almost everything on the menu. I...love the tikkas, especially.
