Marine Atlantic Ferry Terminal Restaurant

When you take a 14 hour bus ride cross country to catch a ferry, you have little options but to eat at the restaurant in the ferry terminal. Taking a taxi into an unknown town too is risky. Except for the fish and chips, the other meals were quite average and should be improved. Quantity was substantial and this helped as we shared the last remaining fish dish amongst us.

We were a bit worried about boarding the ferry with a motorcycle. We had 5 hours to burn, thinking the area around the port would be interesting. This place has seen better times. The ferry staff are really helpful and were great at getting us loaded. We grabbed something to eat at the terminal - typical fried food. It was something in our stomach and not much more.

Avoid at all cost do not eat on the boat rip off prices and **** food get a sub at subway before checking in after you check in they own your wallet

The long wait for the ferry may tempt you to eat at the restaurant, whether you are traveling from North Sydney, NS or Port aux Basques, NL. However, the uncomfortable seating and mediocre food make it a less-than-ideal choice. It is recommended to wait until you are on board to enjoy a decent meal. If your kids are hungry, consider eating before you arrive or bringing your own snacks. It is advised not to arrive more than 20 minutes before the ferry's scheduled departure time, as you may end up waiting in the car paddock for hours before boarding. To avoid the poor food, discomfort, and boredom at the terminal restaurant, it is best to book your ticket, arrive just before check-in time, and eat at a local hotel or restaurant beforehand. Wait until you are on the ferry to have a proper meal.

The Terminal and Restaurant are relatively new, at least to us given that it has been several decades since we used this route to travel, versus air. Selection of food is very reasonable, comfortable seats, gift shops, information booths, Reception and YES WiFi. The Public Announcement is sufficiently loud and clear so you know when to return to your car. Entry to the car Queue is quite streamlined especially so if you have reservations. A pleasant experience.
