Bells Fish - County Durham

Quick friendly service, great price and one of the best plates of fish and chips i've ever had. As good as much more talked about places in North Sheilds or Anstruther. And much better value.

Our server Evie took our orders, explaining that the meat pie would take a little longer to cook than the fish. Our drinks order arrived soon after, within 10 minutes our main course had arrived. Massive portion sizes of chips and the fish was delicious. My husband’s pie was cooked to perfection. Well done Bells and thank you Evie for great service.

Fast food, done properly. One plaice and one haddock, both with chips and tartare sauce; accompanied by cans of drink. Table service was efficient and service of the food was prompt. The restaurant was very busy which, I guess, emphasises the quality and value for money.

Today 26/01/2024 had lovely meal today with my wife. This review was not to review the restaurant but to commend the waiter Liam. The 1st floor was packed and he was non stop serving cleaning an taking orders. He was pleasant, warm, numerous and helpful. He had two separate tables where the customers were downright rude, he was so professional. I hope the management read this and thank him for us.

We ordered a range of dishes fish, pies, chicken, sausages. All with Chips. The portion sizes were good, and the food hot and tasty. Pan fried fish was light, and the steak pie was full of meat. The chap running the upstairs room was very efficient and helpful. All in all, an excellent eating in experience.
