Mandro Teahouse - Davis

Mandro has really good desserts (mango bingsoo, taro ball #3 are my faves). Their specialty drinks (mango sago, Hawaii fruit tea) are also really good. The only thing I don't like is that they don't have savory snacks like popcorn chicken. I also think it's important for any boba shop to have really good basic black milk tea jasmine milk tea, their basic milk teas aren't that good. If you're looking to get basic milk tea, other shops in davis are better. Mandros is pretty much only good if you get their specialty drinks desserts.

I had this place bookmarked. And I was passing through Davis so I thought I would stop by. They also have a couple locations in the bay area, way closer to me. First off, they don't have a large sign above their shop nor are they listed on the sign for the shopping plaza they're located on. So I questioned if I was at the right place. And I circled around the parking lot looking for it before I just parked and searched for it. Not even a sign with their name on the window or door. Seems like they could put some kind of sign. I walked in and it wasn't very busy. One couple sat inside and there was plenty of seating. There was a little kiosk for self ordering. So I went for that. I just went simple and got the mango green tea. It's a $4.50 drink, added 50 cents for boba/topping. When I paid, it was almost $7. They ended up adding tax and a tip. The tip was added without me knowing. Maybe I clicked through too quickly, but it wasn't obvious. Usually there's an entire screen devoted to tipping with different percentages. But I did not see one. Crazy. I ordered through a kiosk and while they did make my drink, I think it's a little shady to add a tip automatically. The drink was fine. Nothing too amazing but good. Boba was also cooked well too. Was just annoyed by the payment process. They are also known for their desserts like shaved ice so I'll have to try those, maybe at a different location, paying super close attention when I pay.

Bingsoo is delicious and boba is pretty good too! Service is like a 4/5 but there is a good vibe and layout to hang out/talk/play board games. No complaints at all, would be back again!

Bingsoo is always my go to with friends when I come to mandro and today is no different. I ordered a small mango bingsoo for me and one other friend and surprisingly, we finished it. The mangos were very sweet but did notice that they sliced the mangos a lot thinner than before so there were less mangos. The ice was fluffy and had no flavor whatsoever but paired with the mango and condensed milk, it was heavenly.

I absolutely love the bingsu here! It's quite challenging to find good bingsu in many places around the Bay Area. I appreciate that they really load it up with strawberries and strawberry sauce, and they even provide a whole container of sweetened condensed milk! Plus, it’s layered, so when you finish the top, there's still more strawberry goodness waiting for you! I will definitely be returning!
