I'm not from the area, but I will drive great lengths to come here. Being at the library isn't for everyone, but this library is. It has many activities for any person readily available. The facilities are always well maintained, the staff is friendly, and the books are ready. If you have kids, they have activities for them, too. Study halls, reading corners, and even computers for use. This library is not only essential for the community but also a necessity for the heart.
I was shocked to see such a great library used as a shelter for the homeless. When I asked about the policy allowing people to sleep in the facility, the staff told me that the library is a public space. So, loitering doesn't apply to public spaces here in Georgetown? Yet, at the same time, I was told my kids needed to be accompanied by an adult if they wished to visit the library. Hindsight is for the better since we watched an older man walk into the women's restroom with no concern from the staff. Unfortunately, this is another area of Georgetown that Austin policies have adopted.
Great kids area with a constantly changing scavenger hunt. Worth checking out for anyone with younger kids. They have a plant library too which is really neat. Cafe inside for coffee. They do have a section of books that they're giving away, in which they accept donations for. Nice library!
Great place to read and do work at. Love the atmosphere and design. Has a lot of study spots, a cafe, and an art gallery. Library regularly has events, which I recommend checking out now and then. Great place to volunteer as well.
