Decided to give this a place a go as we'd been to the Mexican next door and thought it was okay but not amazing (and despite the £2 tacos offer, actually turned out way more expensive than you'd imagine) We arrived at 5 in time...for happy (2) hour(s) and got stuck into two for one margaritas whilst waiting for a friend, who didn't show up til quarter to seven, so we were pretty trashed by the time we came to order food, but I stand by my conclusion that the food was cryworthy, easily the best mexican food I've had in London. Portions were great and I was particularly impressed by the use of (loads of) small local prawns in the tacos rather than a couple of large battered ones, which, though more likely to be used within spitting distance of the gulf of mexico, don't really turn up fresh here, so always end up being a bit disappointing cos it's not an american shrimp taco. Honestly, I'd take the lots of little shrimp' version over that any day. Super nice. My second favourite were the cactus tacos, which I guess used pickled cactus, they were a bit much for my girlfriend's taste but I loved em. The waitress was super nice, and noticed that it was my gf's birthday and brought us free shots and did the whole it's yr birthday so you get to wear these sombreros' thing, which was hilarious and excellent. Definitely going back! BTW this place has moved back to Kingsland Road, Dalston, but there doesn't seem to be a page yet.
Great food with really wonderful subtle flavours. The nachos are the best we have ever tasted. Defiant recommend and it will be a regular for us now.
I am passionate about the Mexican food. Having driven past this restaurant several times, I decided to give it a go. There were some tables available on a Saturday night, so I think booking is not essential. We ordered some Nachos to share, and tacos...and Enchiladas Rojas as main dishes. Normally, the Nachos doesn't take too long, but after 25 minutes, we were still waiting for some food. Our surprise was that all the dishes came at the same time. In all the Mexican restaurants, you first get the nachos, and then the main dishes. The tables are very small, so we didn't have any space on the table. Although the tacos weren't spicy, they were so hot! The music is quite loud, but that wasn't a problem, as the songs were great! It was very difficult to order new drinks or the bill, as the staff don't look at the customers, so you have to be shouting when you have your chance. Overall, it was a great dinner and will definitely come back, as this has been one of the best Mexican food I have tried in London.
The restaurant is located on Church Street a few meters from Stoke newington High Street, I used to visit them when they were in Dalston and this time we wanted to go around the new place. The food is undoubtedly the best Mexican food in...North London, the staff is incredible, Maria makes you feel as if you were in a canteen in the center of Mexico, her humility and beauty makes the food even more flavorful. Cesar and his wife are the best hosts you can have in the whole area of Church Street, really nice and welcoming make you feel at home, and to talk about the Cocktails, you think you'll take one and end up taking 4, great! ! Highly recommended
