I have certainly tried these dishes at other Czech places before, but somehow this place manages to one-up them. The way they do so is by increasing their flavor output. The mushroom soup tastes much denser with stronger cream flavors. The stewed beef's cream sauce is also much smoother and with a stronger flavor. What I really liked about this place is that they also serve Kofola, which is a kind of Coca Cola served during the period when Czech was still under communist rule. They could not have Coca Cola so they invented something similar. The taste is much more lemony and different. Lastly, you should try the sweet coffin (named so because the dessert literally is shaped like a coffin with cream on top). Enjoy!
This restaurant at the base of the Karlstein castle had great food, plenty of space, good service. For a bit of local flavor try the kofola drink, somewhat like a root beer. Wide menu, with pancakes to cheeses, fish, and meats.
Great trout, beer, it started to rain they opened a big umbrella and we could continue our dinner. Nice service, I definitely recommend it, they only take cash, choose in advance. Service: 5
Beautiful place under Karlštejn. We had lunch today with five children, the service was excellent, nice, fast, everything was great. For meals we had traditional Czech dishes, which were faultless. Reasonably priced considering the location. Perhaps the only thing missing is the option to pay by card, which is pointed out by the sign in front of the entrance. We will be happy to come back.
We were surprised by the relatively popular prices in the Karlštejn sub-castle (not only in this restaurant). The environment is not a miracle, e.g. the cushions on the chairs would need a lot of washing, but otherwise OK, the toilets are fine. Great service, attentive. The food was probably okay, but it certainly didn't blow us away. But the daughter praised the soup and pancakes. The lady who brought us the bill was definitely the strongest point of the whole visit (and probably of the company). She radiated professionalism, comfort, insight, and kindness. Only thanks to her we gave one star more than we originally wanted.
