Well what a surprise within 2kms of our new home ! Attentive and polite staff (that speak perfect English, if you need it) are always on hand. Prato do dia is about 10€ and is exceptional value or you can have a choice from their...a la carte menu. Internally laid out in a large open room with character. Reminded me of a late 1970's hotel dining room but I don't mean that in a derogatory way, it was how things were before self service help yourself buffets' became commonplace in many establishments .Bring cash for a really good price. We had a very pleasant evening and will be visiting many times more I'm sure!
Although the venue has a beautiful old-fashioned appearance, the 4 poor waiters had to lose the battle. I've seen people leave their table after waiting for me to be server for half an hour. others dared throughout their meal to excite their attention....I had checked the menu of the day (refreshed daily on their website) before we went, but unfortunately they only serve the take-away version in the restaurant. After some hardships I could order the tournedos I wanted. my companion took only the main course from the entire inclusive take-off menu and should therefore pay the reduced price that is on their online menu. After I told the waiter that he had to adjust the bill, I didn't want to disappear any more than what I had already done. later to home I discovered that they added 1 euro to the price of the tournedos, they asked 6 euro for 4 slices cheese and sink and 1.50 for away as I could finish my tournedos. they cannot help, the fact that they are understaffed, but they do not have to cheat on their guests.
We were there today, after our last visit about 20 years ago. still updated and fabulous place to eat, with an excellent environment, very friendly staff, fast service, fabulous and generous meal, and very good desserts. highly recommended!
Drive late from porto and came over this restaurant. many people did not see, but it was 9:30 a.m., so we thought it was late and most customers had already gone. our waiter bruno was phenomenal! he went beyond and beyond to explain...all on the menu for us. bruno is Portuguese, but is fluent in English and also speaks Spanish. the food was so delicious that we came back for more the next day. the menu offered a lot of options, but we went for seafood, and it was not disappointed. this is our third time in portugal and we are very familiar with eating and crying. I must say that we are next time in portugal, we come back to restaurante a lareira!
