The food differs from other local foods as it has hamburger slider, and other lunch snacks that you might find in the USA. The desserts are also good, although they are served in sealed plastic containers held in the refrigerator. For the price and quality of food from Dulce Maria, I would recommend this restaurant to every visitor of El Retiro.
This small café is located on the corner of Carrera 20 in Casa Montoya in front of the main square next to Iglesia Nuestra Señora del Rosario (church). Remarkable for desserts, the tiny kitchen supports an impressive breakfast and lunch menu, as well. A cozy interior contains about half a dozen tables and borders a pleasant courtyard, in the Hispanic tradition. Featured amenities include pizzas, mini-burgers and cazuelas, which are often local dishes. In addition to the local version, others are also offered with German, Italian and Mexican bevels and are very tasty. Portions are not huge, so there is room for dessert. The best bet is probably the selection from a variety of cheesecakes. Do not be astonished that it arrives at your table in plastic intake box, they are actually creamy and good. The menu also lists Alfajores (a rich cookie originating in Moorish Spain that spreads to Mexico, South America and the Philippines), covered with chocolate. Truffles (trufas) are also listed on the menu, but they never seem... As everywhere in Colombia, the service here is friendly and attentive. Credit cards are accepted.
