I've been eating at the Walpack Inn for years. I've had large parties there. The food is great. I had my Mom's 90th birthday party there recently, and when we all went to order dessert, there was nothing left. Needless to say, it was very embarrassing for me, and disappointing for all. Very poor planning for the restaurant. Overall I just miss the way the Walpack Inn used to be years ago with the piano player by the bar while the fireplace was blazing. Then during dinner we could watch the deer come up to feed on the corn. The last year or so, people were sitting out there so, of course, no deer would come to feed. I also miss the animal mountings. I was told that the mountings didn't look good anymore and had to be removed. If that was really the case, the mountings should have been replaced like they did at Club 199 after the fire there. I guess what I'm trying to say is that the atmosphere years ago was what drew me and my friends and family there just as much as the food. It was such a cool place back then. The food is still really great (when they don't run out), but too much change from the good ole days. The restaurant didn't try hard enough to keep the atmosphere authentic.
