My kids and husband enjoyed the cookies they tried as well. I didn't have a chance to taste the coffee this time, but maybe on my next visit!
Mad Rona's is a popular and welcoming coffee shop on Gabriola Island. They serve small batch Drumroaster Coffee from Cobble Hill, along with a delicious assortment of freshly baked goods. Their menu features breakfast sandwiches, paninis, warm and sticky cinnamon buns, and unique Compost Cookies made with chunks of pretzels and coffee grounds. The cafe is a local gathering spot, bustling with customers on a Saturday morning. Despite the busy atmosphere, there is a nice patio area to enjoy in good weather, with large garage doors open for fresh air. Mad Rona's is a great place to grab a cup of coffee, relax with free Wi-Fi, or explore the nearby market.
I absolutely love the scones and pumpkin cheesecake at this restaurant! The scones are consistently delicious and the best I've ever had. After being disappointed that they no longer had the peanut butter pie, I decided to try the pumpkin cheesecake and I was blown away. It was so good that I went back and bought another to take home. The staff was friendly and it's comforting to know that they have a generator for power outages during storms.
Tasty food and drink with a lovely outdoor patio. Forest in the Forage panini and the Salmon/Spinach and Egg with lemon aioli breakfast sandwich were very tasty and filling. Their coffee and smoothies were yummy as well. Warm Gulf island service along with a lovely outdoor patio for dining really added to our dining experience Taking a bike over from Nanaimo, with a stop for brunch at Mad Rona's and then finished with a dip in the ocean would make a memorable day trip.
Lovely outdoor garden seating area. Delicious coffee breakfast sandwiches. Pleasant worth the visit.
