I had a lunch special #5 and a soda, with tip and tax etc. it was $10.00. The food was hot, flavourful and enough. I would certainly drop in there for lunch another time.
We had passed The Chopsticks restaurant in Stayner many times, but had never dined there, or ordered a take-out there, until recently. It was really the Great Northern Exhibition (GNE), the area's best fall fair, that brought The Chopsticks restaurant and us together. The Collingwood Agricultural Society, which annually presents the GNE, held a fund-raising dinner which included a silent auction. One of the auction items was a dinner for two compliments of The Chopsticks restaurant. We were the successful bidders on that item and took home a Chopsticks voucher.A few months passed and we decided to redeem the dinner-for-two voucher. I called, identified myself and explained about the voucher. The person – a waitress – who answered the telephone wasn't sure if they could honour the voucher because The Chopsticks restaurant has new owners. But bring in the voucher, she told us, adding that she would check with the owner. We live in Collingwood and it is 16 kilometres to The Chopsticks restaurant in Stayner. This restaurant is easy to find in a small strip mall at a main intersection. It is next door to an Esso station at a major traffic light in downtown Stayner.I entered The Chopsticks, which has a small area of tables in the front overlooking a parking lot. The waitress was quick to let me know that Chopsticks would honour the voucher. That was good news! The dining area at the front of The Chopsticks restaurant is quite small, more of a waiting area for take-away customers. We left toting a large bag which contained our dinner for two. That included two egg rolls, Beef Chow Mein, Sweet and Sour Chicken (stir fried) and Chicken Fried Rice. We could feel how hot it was through the carrying bag.We got home to Collingwood and opened the take-away. It was still hot and we were hungry. The meal, which would normally cost just over $20.00, was delicious and more good news.....there was enough for another, one, or two, meals!Yes, Chopsticks is quite generous in its servings. We thank them for honouring our Chopsticks voucher and definitely plan to buy a take-out from them again!
Always a pleasure to treat family to Chinese food. Always get enough to last two days. Convenient take out.
It wouldn't be my first choice for Chinese food take away. Last time we got it it was stone cold and I mean cold. The sweet and sour sauce was right out of the fridge! Not good.
This place is our "go to" for local takeout Chinese food. You can sit in but I don't know why anyone would want to. Its a tiny little place with 1 table and a couple of stools. Lemon Chicken is a must try as is the mushroom egg foo young. I also love the fried dumplings. For years we went to the other Chinese place in town and are so glad to have something better to choose from.Worth a try if you live in town and don't feel like driving to Collingwood.
